TimberTech, established in 1997, initially dealt with uncapped composite decking. Through continuous innovation, they have evolved to offer solely capped composite decking that boasts superior aesthetics and durability. Noteworthily, in 2012, TimberTech was acquired by Azek Building Products, both now falling under the CPG International umbrella. Despite this, the brands were maintained separately for some time as TimberTech and Azek Deck before being integrated under one entity. Keep in mind that most deck builders and contractors consider deck building the best “MARGIN” for profit. They usually align the material costs with labor expenses, maintaining a 1:1 ratio. For instance, if materials amount to $10,000, the total cost of the deck would be $20,000. Deck builders and contractors typically secure materials from reliable sources, add a markup of 15-20 percent, and then equate that total with their labor charges. While this pricing strategy may appear steep, the expenses involved in insuring a crew, managing their payroll, licensing a sales agent, and ensuring a profit margin are substantial within today’s market environment.

Expansion/Contraction Heat Transfer: This category is crucial in regions prone to significant climate fluctuations. In areas where the weather is consistently mild year-round, its significance diminishes. It's imperative to acknowledge that expansion and contraction are inevitable. Composite materials are inclined to expand under heat and contract when temperatures drop. To safeguard your deck's longevity, it is crucial that your deck builder adheres to Trex's prescribed gapping instructions when executing miter cuts and creating seams. This protocol is key to preventing material damage to the frame and ensuring a uniform and aesthetically pleasing finish.

If you have young children and pets with sensitive paws, heat transfer can be a significant concern. Our research indicates that composite deck boards, especially in darker colors, absorb heat more than wood, with temperature differences as minimal as six degrees in extreme cases. Therefore, switching to a brand claiming to be the coolest may not offer substantial relief since all composites tend to get hot. To safeguard your loved ones against the heat, consider installing pergolas or using accent rugs. Despite the additional expense, the value that composite decks bring makes investing in temperature-cooling accessories worthwhile.

Color and Grain Pattern (Variegation); All of these three lines are Mono-Chromial and non-variegated, ensuring they resemble purposely painted wood, giving them a realistic wood product appearance. The hues consist of gray, brown, and tan, with a total of 5 colors. It's essential to note that traction may be slightly compromised when these boards are wet.

Color and Grain Pattern (Variegation); Sporting 8 mono-chromatic, non variegated colors but once more, only 3 hues. Along with not having a color matched plug available for any of these lines, this limited color selection may leave some customers wanting more diversity. However, the colors available are visually appealing and can enhance the aesthetics of your deck effortlessly. The sanded wood look for these line cause the grain to be less noticeable and more slippery when wet. Take caution.

This allows for versatile combinations and pairings, whether among themselves or with the ‘Legacy’ line shades. Noteworthy for their exceptional traction and striking grain pattern, these boards provide a superior grip compared to their less refined counterparts.

Color and Grain Pattern (Variegation); Without a doubt, this is TimberTech's most diverse and colorful collection yet. Featuring six vibrant hues with striking variegation and rich accent colors, they easily stand out. Among them, White Wash Cedar and Espresso have proven to be this year's top sellers, captivating the market with their undeniable appeal.
